The Kōtare Kingfisher combines richly figured timber with blue-green marbled acrylic to capture the unmistakable colouring of one of Aotearoa’s most striking native birds. Each section is individually laser-cut, finished and assembled by hand, creating real depth and shadow across the artwork.

The blue, green and pearlescent acrylic shifts with the light, making every Kōtare slightly different. Warm reddish veneer forms the chest, light oak highlights the throat, and glossy black details sharpen the beak, eye, feet and flowing koru elements.

Set against a dark timber backer and finished in a solid oak frame, this is a bold statement piece that rewards a closer look.
